Moreland man dies in crash

NICHOLASVILLE - A Moreland man was killed Friday evening in a collision with another vehicle on U.S. 68 near Spring Mint Farm in Jessamine County.

Eugene Paul Martin, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred about 8 p.m., police said.

A 28-year-old man, who wasn't identified by police, was riding with Martin and injured in the crash. He was taken to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center for treatment, according to a press release from Jessamine County Sheriff's Department.

The driver of the second vehicle, Jeffrey K. Moore, 50, of Nicholasville, was treated for minor injuries at the UK hospital and released, an emergency room worker said.

Both Martin's Pontiac Grand Prix and Moore's Ford Ranger were severely damaged, according to the press release. All three people were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

The crash is currently under investigation by Jessamine Deputy Scott Carnes. Anyone who was a witness or has information about the accident is asked to contact the sheriff's department at (859) 887-5447.
