PVA and Surveyor races

May 18, 2006

The Jessamine County Surveyor's race was the closest race of primary election night as 10 votes separated the winner from the vanquished.

Incumbent Jeff Ransdell was upset by Ricky Moore by 10 votes; 2,132 to 2,122.

Moore says the race wasn't about the money, because its an unpaid position, but being surveyor will allow him to be more involved in Jessamine County.

"I'm happy I won," Moore said Wednesday morning. "I just wanted to get more involved in the community. If I would have lost, I would have felt the same way."

Phone messages left on Ransdell's home and cell phone were not returned before press time.
