CASA seeking volunteers

June 01, 2006

Are you interested in helping area youth?

If the answer to the above question is yes, then the 28th Judicial Circuit CASA Board needs you.

The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program, which is being developed in Lincoln, Pulaski and Rockcastle Counties, will help give a voice to the abused and neglected children involved in the court system.

Advocates will work with the children and make reports and recommendations to the court with the goal of expediting the reuniting of families.

The volunteer program does include a background check on individuals plus a training program which takes between 30-40 hours.

Those interested in volunteering, or for more information on the CASA program, contact Bruce Smith, Lincoln County Schools Director of Pupil Personnel, at the board office at 606-365-2124.
