A memorial remembrance service was held at Highland United Methodist Church cemetery on Sunday.
Army Lieutenant Colonel Melvin R. Bowdan, Jr., (Ret) spoke and members of Caswell Saufley Post #18 of the American Legion provided the honor guard.
Family members were given flags to place on graves.
The welcome was given by Mike McGuffey, treasurer of the church cemetery committee, and the speaker was introduced by Susie Reed Langford. Iva Young led the pledge of allegiance and names of the honored dead were read by Raymond Davis. The presentation of flags was made by Beverley Young.
The prayer of gratitude was made by Pastor Donald Scilley.
Earlier in the day, a service was held at the church with names being read of family members who had died over the past year. Relatives were given a flower to remember their loved ones.
