Casey man injured in crash
CLEMENTSVILLE - Juan Bernal, of Ky. 1547, was injured Friday in a one-vehicle traffic crash on Ky. 70 west of here, police said. Sheriff Jerry Coffman said Bernal lost control of his vehicle in a curve. The vehicle ran off the road and hit several trees. Bernal was taken to Casey County Hospital for treatment.
Two men face traffic charges
LIBERTY - Hernandez Nestor Perez of Ellison Drive was arrested Saturday on four traffic charges, according to a report by Deputy Sheriff Chad Weddle. Perez was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, no insurance, improper registration plates and no driver's license.
He was arrested on Ellison Drive and lodged in Casey County Detention Center.
Jeffrey J. Gilpin, 51, of Loveland, Ohio, was arrested Monday on U.S. 127 North, after Trooper Mike Woodrum stopped the vehicle for speeding. Gilpin was reportedly driving 104 miles per hour in a 55 zone. He was charged with speeding, reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs and no insurance. Gilpin was lodged in the county jail.
Theft, attempted burglaries reported
LIBERTY - Casey County Sheriff's Department is investigating a theft on Ky. 1547 and three attempted burglaries on Watson Chapel Road.
Lindsey Hoskins, of Ky. 1547, told Sheriff Jerry Coffman that someone took gasoline and five CDs from her Pontiac Grand Am Friday while it was parked in her driveway. She also said two valve stem caps were replaced with green ones.
Mike Hines and Jean Hall reported a break-in at Watson's Chapel Church at 933 Watson Chapel Road between July 23-26. Damage was done to the front door, but nothing was missing.
Jean Hall of Watson Chapel Road told Coffman that someone had attempted to pry open a door at her residence late Sunday night or early Monday morning.
Hall also said an intruder attempted to break into the residence of her mother, Geneva Wall of Watson Chapel Road, Saturday night. The back door was damaged.
