Shelter has male dogs for adoption

The Clark County Animal Shelter has two male dogs for adoption featured this week.

Jake is a black and white Labrador mix who is six months old. He will grow to be about 5-60 pounds. He was found as a stray.

"Jake is a great puppy," said Beth Bowman, director of the shelter. "He listens well and is very attentive."

Jake has been at the animal shelter for about three months. He has not been altered, has had his first round of shots and has been dewormed.

He also has a brother available for adoption.

The other featured dog is Ace, a one-year-old brown and white Jack Russell mix with a black face. He weighs about 20 pounds.

Ace was also found as a stray, and has been at the shelter two months.

He has had his first round of shots and been dewormed, and he has not been altered.

"Ace is a fun-loving, playful dog," Bowman said. "He is great with everyone."

Both dogs, Bowman said, get along well with other animals, children and adults.

Bowman said she wants to remind people in the community that if they have lost their pets, they should contact the animal shelter.

"Keep in mind that it is best to come out to our shelter to identify your lost pet," she said.

The Clark County Animal Shelter is located on Iron Works Road near the fairgrounds. It is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and is closed on Sunday and Monday.

Adoption fees are $50 for dogs and $40 for cats. The cost includes a first set of vaccinations, a spay or neuter, a heartworm test for dogs, and a feline combination test for cats, a rabies shot, a free veterinary visit and a mild de-worming treatment.
