Keiser named one of America's top veterinarians
Chuck Keiser, DVM of Heartland Veterinary Hospital at 1324 Lebanon Road in Danville, has been selected as one of America's top veterinarians. He is one of a select few that have earned this prestigious recognition and will be included in the publication, Guide to America's Top Veterinarians, published by Consumer's Research Council of America in Washington, DC. The selection process is based on education, years in practice and affiliation with professional associations.
Kinter in top of Telecommunications Academy class
Deirdre Kinter graduated at the top of her class from the Telecommunications Academy of the Department of Criminal Justice training program at Eastern Kentucky University.
Kinter, a former secretary for the Danville Police Department, maintained a 98.9 grade point average during the four-week training program, which ended Aug. 1. Kinter will continue in-house training as a dispatcher for the Danville-Boyle County 911 Center.
Comics and gaming business opens
Comic Cosmos Comics and Gaming opened Aug. 1 in the Danville Manor Shopping Center on Hustonville Road. The hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. It is owned by David and Julia Tackett and sells new comics as well as back issues, card games, Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh!, graphic novels, toys, statues, anime, board games and mini games.
Comic Cosmos also offers a folder subscription service, which typically has a 10 to 15 percent discount. Game tournaments will be held weekly on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Also, weekly games including Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh and Heroclix will be played in the game room.

Whitaker joins Changez Design Team
Tracy Whitaker, a hair stylist specializing in cuts and coloring for men and women, has recently joined Changez Design Team at 129 E. Main Street in Danville. She has 10 years of experience.

Two employees honored for many years of service
The Danville Center for Health and Rehabilitation recently recognized two employees, Robert Gooch and Doug Nolan, for their many years of service. Gooch has worked for the Danville Center for 38 years and Nolan has worked there for 30 years. A ceremony recently was held in their honor. The two listed working with the elderly as their reason for staying at the center so many years. Neither have plans to retire soon.
