Readers predict Danville win

August 30, 2006

If local football fans are correct, Danville should win Friday's game with Boyle County. Eight of the nine fans who made a prediction on the game picked the Admirals to win.

Here are the predictions:

Jerry Potts, Danville: Danville 28-14.

I think Danville will win in a very hard-fought contest. Danville just has too much speed for Boyle. Plus, if Boyle plays the way they played last Friday night against a not so good Harrison County, then it might not be a close game at all."

Mike Tamme, Lemont, Ill.: Boyle County 31-30.

"This game always seems to be high scoring and Boyle seems to find a way to come out on top."

J.R. Jones: Danville 10-7.

"Reason - speed."

Kathy Cooley, Danville: Danville 42-24.

"Danville has some top returning players like Jacob Bryant and Jeffrey Guest and what I saw of Leonard Macon in the bowl game - WOW. Danville is definitely on top in this matchup."

Stephanie Ross-Foy, U.S. Navy, Norfolk, Va.; Danville 27-21.

"Why? Danville is looked at as the underdog. It's time for an Admiral win against the Rebels. I am a Danville High School grad. I bleed blue blood! My nephew, No. 25, Darren Ross is playing for Danville."

Shaun Harris, Danville: Danville 30-7.

"Boyle is not that good this season."

Gene Blunder, Danville: Danville 24-7.

"Having traveled to Cynthiana to witness the season opener for the Rebs, one thing became fairly clear. There is a world of potential under the black hats. There is also a ton of work to do before they can be considered state finalist caliber. The defense is sound! Both the down linemen and the linebackers played well. The secondary is very inexperienced but fairly talented. The offense faltered badly in the second half and would appear to need to develop a killer instinct. Again the talent is there. It needs development and fine tuning. Having said all this and not having seen the Ads game versus Southwestern, I must conclude that by winning the Southwestern game Danville must be considered the favorite. Boyle County should get better as the season progresses but right now they won't beat a very good Danville team.

James Wayne, Danville: Danville 21-17.

"Danville has a lot more experience on and off the field."

Bobby Hinkle, Danville: Danville 25-7.

"Danville's speed and senior leadership will overwhelm Boyle's sophomore-laden team."
