Stanford School Council to meet

The Stanford Elementary School Site-Based Council will meet Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 5 p.m.

Hamilton & Emerson reunion

There will be a Hamilton and Emerson reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold and Lynn Hamilton on Hwy. 501 at Grove Ridge Road in Casey Co. on Saturday, Sept. 2. Dinner will be around 12:00 or so. If you like, bring a covered dish.

LC Circuit Clerk's office holiday closing

The Lincoln County Circuit Clerk's office will be closed for the Labor Day holiday on Saturday, Sept. 2 and Monday, Sept. 4.

PBK Bank March of Dimes Benefit

Poker Run, Saturday, Sept. 30. Registration at Arby's in Stanford. 9:30-11:00 a.m. Prizes - Best Hand & 50/50 Pot. Cost $15 first rider and $10 second rider. Run will end at PBK Bank with refreshments and door prizes. All proceeds benefit March of Dimes.

Hopkins Family Reunion

The 42nd annual Ewell and Ella Saylor Hopkins family reunion will be held Sunday, Sept. 3 under the large pavilion at the William Whitley House, just off Hwy. 150 between Crab Orchard and Stanford. The reunion will begin around 11:30 a.m. The lunch will be potluck and will be served around 1 p.m. Soft drinks will be provided. The pavilion contains both men's and ladies restrooms. Heritage Hospice training

Putting the Garden to Bed

Karen Angelucci, author of "Secrets of a Kentucky Gardener," will be the special guest speaker for the Nature's Thyme Herb Group of Garrard County. She will be speaking on "Putting the Garden to Bed". There will also be a book signing and copies of her book will be available to purchase. Please join us on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Garrard County Extension Office. There is no charge for this event, however, seating is limited so please call the office (859)792-3026 to reserve a seat.

Wall Reunion

The annual Wall reunion will be held at the home of Curtis Robertson on Robertstown Road at Kings Mountain Sunday, Sept. 3. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Bring a covered dish and lawn chair. After lunch there will be an auction and cookbook sale for the Wall Cemetery. For more information call 365-9691.

Meeting concerning Kings Mountain School

There will be a meeting held Aug. 31 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Courthouse in the upstairs courtroom for all interested citizens in the forming of the Kings Mountain Community Committee. No Curbside recycling pickup on Labor Day

The Lincoln County Recycle Center will be closed Monday, Sept. 4, Labor Day. There will not be curbside pickup in Stanford on that day. The next curbside pickup will be Monday, Sept. 11. For more information call June at 365-9779.

Stanford Planning & Zoning meetings

The Stanford Planning and Zoning Commission holds their regular monthly meet the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the L & N Depot. The public is invited to attend.

Diabetes Group to meet

The Lincoln County Diabetes Support Group will meet Thursday, Sept. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Lincoln County Extension Office. If you have any questions, call Rita Stewart at the Extension office at 365-2447 or Lee Ann Taylor at the Health Department at 365-3106.

Benefit Bean Supper

A benefit bean supper will be held Friday, Sept. 1 at the Broughtontown Community Center at 6 p.m. for Rebecca Lynn Ross who was born premature and has had many problems since birth. She will have a major surgery on Sept. 14 in Cincinnati. Music by: The Kings Crusaders and The Blanton Heirs at 7 p.m. An auction will be held at 8 p.m.

LC Soccer hosting softball tournament

The Lincoln County Soccer Booster Club is hosting the first annual Patriot Invitational Softball tournament at the Crab Orchard Park on Sept. 2-4. For details contact Earl Padgett at 365-2028 or Merle Miracle at 606-669-0328.

Motorcycle ride to benefit March of Dimes

Motorcycle ride to benefit March of Dimes, Saturday, Sept. 9. Registration is at Thunder Cycles, 3rd Street, Danville from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. $20.00 per bike, $10.00 rider, Door prizes, 50/50 Drawing. Food will be provided at the end of the ride at the Middleburg Fire Department in Middleburg. The ride will assist the March of Dimes in finding the cause of prematurity and birth defects.
