Magisterial candidate vows

to research constituents' needs

By Larry Berry

My name is Larry Berry. Most of my acquaintances know me as "Peanut." I am 48 years old, and a native of Lincoln County. I have chosen to run for magistrate, representing the 4th district of our great county.

My job history has developed me as a buyer, planner, estimator, and hands-on project facilitator. I worked for 19 years in purchase management for manufacturing, overseeing capital expense projects and reconciling budgets. I was quite successful at constant cost reduction and running under budget.

For the past six years, I have been working as a cost estimator for a millwright service company. I correspond with established customers, helping to establish and define fabrications, millwright, rigging, and general needs. Often, I have to draw and develop projects with minimal information. My current job also requires me to research, communicate, and develop new customers for long-term relationships.

I am a born-again Christian, and an active member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. I attend church service and Sunday School on a regular basis.

I have tried to spend my life demonstrating high moral ethics and strived to meet higher standards every day, week, month, and year. It has been my priority to instill these attributes into my children and grandchildren as well.

As your magistrate, I will represent you on the fiscal court with honor, commitment, and without racial, political, or geographic bias. My goal is to provide services, utilities, education, and a better way of life at a pace that will keep up with our current rate of growth, especially in our 127 corridor area.

At this point in my life, I am in a working situation that would allow me the flexibility to not only attend the fiscal court meetings, but also travel the area and research the needs and concerns of the residents. Also, I have been blessed with a family and a core group of the best friends that a person could have, giving me a vast wealth of knowledge and diversity to work from.

I know that we are all creatures of habit, but at some point change is necessary. Sometimes we need to think outside of the box and look to the future. We need to have a vision. We need to have goals that are aggressive, yet obtainable.

To sum up, I would just like to say that your desires and concerns are my desires and concerns. After all, we are all in this together. As your 4th District representative on the Lincoln County Fiscal Court, I pledge to always be available and willing. Available to listen to your concerns. Available to research those concerns. And willing to respond to you.

Thank you for considering me as your choice in November. Please remember, your votes, your support, and your prayers never go unappreciated by the Peanut Man!
