Alford family holds reunion

The family of the late Howard and Nannie Estes Alford held their family reunion on Saturday, Aug. 19 at the home of Les and Tommie Gooch in McKinney. Les is the son of the late Mildred Alfred Gooch and Fred James Gooch. All of the older generation of Alfords are passed on now.

There was a good turn out of about 70 people present with a lot of cousins and family members including two ladies from Danville who were the late Howard Alford's nieces that were raised in McKinney. Their names were Bessie Wade Boyd and Anne Wade Householder. We were glad to have them come and visit with us.

Other family members present were Les Gooch's son, Todd Gooch, his wife Shirley, their daughter Cailey; son Joshua Gooch from Lancaster and his mother, Bonnie Gooch from Lexington; daughter, Jackie Payne and her three children, sons, Taylor and Wesley; and daughter Olivia Payne, and Tommie Gooch's mother, Naomi Major from Nicholasville; Nancy Jean Gooch Lainhart from Lancaster; her daughter, Bilie Sue Buchanan Buckley and her husband Bob and son, Sam Buckley from Louisville; her son, Robbie and wife Tina Buchanan from Lexington.

Descendants of the late J. C. Alford attending were: Dale and Ann Alford of McKinney; his daughter, Vera Alford Gooch, her son, Will Gooch and daughter, Calli Gooch from Kings Mountain; his son, Heath and Shelly Alford and son Jeffery Alford from Burgin; his granddaughter, Danielle Alford from Lexington; and grandsons, Kevin Alford from Danville and Randy Alford from McKinney.

Also from the J. C. Alford family was the late Jack Alford's daughters, Pamela Alford Shearer and husband Eugene Shearer from Stanford and daughter Paula Alford Caldwell from Danville and her daughter, Hilary Alford McElfresh and her husband, Derrick McElfresh from Stanford.

Descendants of the late Bill Jones Alford attending were his son Bobby Alford from Indianapolis, IN.; his daughter, Willie Marie Alford Smith and her husband, Charlie Smith; their daughter, Cricket and husband, Charles Pickette, their three sons, Charlie, Tom, and Kyle Pickette; a daughter, Cassie Pickette and friend Chris all from Indianapolis, IN.

Descendants of the late Mary Alford Sims attending were Garnet Sims and wife Francis Sims and her mother, Stella Morgan from Trafalgar, IN.; their son, Johnny and Teresa Sims from Stanford; Jerry (Bugg) Sims; Bobbie Sim; their daughter, Kelly Sims and her son, Jeremy Beeler and friend, Jeff Gogns from Indianapolis, IN.; Linda Sims Turk and husband, Ron Turk; daughter, Kimberly and Shawn Pierson; daughter Amy Turk and friend Darrin Tilley from Indianapolis, IN.; Pete and Sheri Sims, son Chad Sims from Whiteland, IN., and son Ryan Sims, who is in the Air Force stationed in New Jersey; and Mary Sims Sicking and husband David Sicking, their daughter, Deann and husband, Davy Cook from Whiteland, IN.
