Three indicted in Casey

LIBERTY - A Casey grand jury indicted three people recently, including a man on charges that he assaulted a deputy jailer.

Merl Ray Long, 41, of 521 Poff Merson Road, was charged with assault in the third-degree for allegedly attempting to cause physical injury to jail deputy Greg Means.

Tommy Miller was the witness for the grand jury. Long's bond is set at $1,500 cash or secured property.

The grand jury also indicted McKinley Hall, 53, of Russell Springs, on charges of complicity to commit burglary, third-degree, complicity to commit theft by unlawful taking more than $300, and evading police. Police say Hall and an accomplice burglarized the Tobacco Shed in Liberty on Aug. 28.

Hall's alleged accomplice, Anthony G. McClister, 25, also was charged with burglary and theft by unlawful taking in the same incident.

Liberty police Officer Harold Cochran was the grand jury witness in both cases. Bond for each is set at $5,000 cash or secured property.

The three men will be arraigned Sept. 25 in Casey Circuit Court.
