One lane of Interstate 64 remained closed in Montgomery County following a non-injury accident this morning involving hazardous materials.At about 12:30 a.m., the Kentucky State Police in Morehead responded to an accident on I-64 at the 105-mile marker. A tractor trailer driven by Gary Devoe, 38, of Decatur, Ala., was traveling east when Devoe swerved to miss a deer.
The trailer became loose and struck an earthen embankment. The trailer held Anox 20 AM, which is an antioxidant. Several bags were damaged during the wreck.
Both eastbound lanes of the interstate were blocked until 6:30 a.m. A private contractor has been hired to clean up the substance, which is expected to take about 15 hours. The accident remains under investigation.
