Club leader Amy Matthews raises and shows heirloom breeds of poultry and sells animals for breeding purposes, meat and eggs. She has years of personal experience teaching her own children about birds while she learned to raise chickens and turkeys on a few acres with limited facilities.
The poultry project has tons of events for those who do not own birds, as well as those who do, including quiz bowls, barbecue and egg cooking contests, skillathons and judging events. Many of these events provide youth the opportunity to earn scholarship money and to travel across the country.
