Paving the Way

Ronnie Powell, top photo, lays down a layer of blacktop near the intersection of Redwing Drive and the Bypass as traffic slowly snakes around the equipment. Johnny Knox, bottom photo, smoothed the blacktop on a large roller, making one of several trips on the new surface to get it compressed correctly. The construction crew will have to make four more trips down the Bypass to blacktop all the lanes of traffic. Work on the state contract is expected to be completed by Friday.
