Editorial: Get out and vote

October 12, 2006

When Kentuckians go to the polls on Nov. 7, up for grabs are more than 4,000 local and regional elections including all 100 seats in the state House of Representatives, half of the state Senate seats and all six of Kentucky's Congressional delegation.

In addition, communities around the state will face key mayoral elections, judicial nominees, and local school board elections. Many of these individuals will have the ability to greatly influence the path of education in our state including funding for schools, teacher pay and incentives, and decisions that may significantly impact student learning and performance.

One of the most effective ways to make your voice heard is by going to the polls and casting your ballot.

In Lincoln County, one of the best ways to cast an informed voter is to attend the political candidate forum from 7-10 p.m. tonight at the Lincoln County Extension Service.
