Candidate's Statement: Folger runs for sheriff

October 12, 2006

Curt Folger has over 25 years business experience that gives him the knowledge and expertise to run an efficient Sheriff's office. But that's not all he brings!

Curt has enlisted the help of two lifelong friends and career police officers to head up the department. Dannie and Donnie Gilliam have extensive training in various areas of law enforcement and drug awareness. Together they bring over 45 years experience in the office.

Dannie was a highly qualified instructor for the Danville Police Department and as Captain, supervised and trained over 25 officers. He has taught 'Drug Awareness and Education' to many students in the classroom.

As a detective in the Kentucky State Police, Donnie received numerous commendations for exceptional investigations. He was named 'Trooper of the Year' and receive the prestigious 'Citation for Meritorious Service'.

All three men are dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for all citizens of Lincoln County. Many families are affected by drugs and most crimes are directly, or indirectly drug related. Too many incidents of teenage death related to drugs demands attention. If it's important enough for you to call, then it's important enough for use to respond!

Folger intends to utilize constables to help with serving court papers, thus lessening the demands on deputies and giving constables an opportunity to earn service fees and receive proper training. A full-time resource officer for the school system will place a trained officer on school property daily. A Juvenile Diversion Program managed and staffed by the Sheriff and his deputies will build positive relationships between young first-time offenders and their families while creating an alternative to legal process.

Deputies will reside and work in specific areas of the county where they will be visible and promptly available. Computers will be used to track and manage offender information including warrants, sexual predators, and suspected drug dealers. The department will seek state and federal grants to insure continued services to all citizens of the county. A full-time detective will investigate serious crimes rather than just take reports. A full-time training officer will insure up-to-date training without the great expense of sending each deputy to school. The department will attempt to continually train and grow to provide the citizens of Lincoln County with a modern, professional, and qualified sheriff's office.

Please vote for Curt Folger for your Lincoln County Sheriff. Experience you can count on!
