October 17, 2006|BRENDA S. EDWARDS

LIBERTY - A voting machine has been set up at Casey County Clerk Eva Miller's office to accommodate voters who cannot go to the polls Nov. 7.

She said five people voted Thursday after the machine was opened. Residents who are ill or have other reasons for not being able to come to the polls on election day may vote prior to the election either by coming to the clerk's office or mailing in an absentee ballot.

Miller also said Floyd Emerson, a candidate for City Council, has dropped out of the race. He did not give a reason.

This leaves 10 candidates seeking the office: Brian Beeler, James Emerson, Earl L. "Monk" Wilson, Brad Vaughn and Barry Davis, incumbents, and Lana J. Watson, Mitchell Phillips, Phyllis Whited, Steven Brown and Marilyn Whiles.
