Emma Parks will perform at Mercer Chamber banquet

Emma Parks, 12, will perform at the Mercer Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet Nov. 2 in Harrodsburg.

Emma is the daughter of Philip and Susan Parks of Hebron and granddaughter of George and Brenda Sexton of Danville.

Emma has just returned from an exciting summer in New York City where she appeared in an Off-Broadway production, "Night of the Hunter (Mary)," as part of the New York City Musical Theatre Festival. She worked with a cast that included three previous Tony award nominees. While in New York, she received training in musical theatre with Telsey and Co. Casting, associated with Broadway productions such as "Hairspray," "Tarzan" and "Rent" as well as the motion picture "Rent."

She has been singing and dancing since age 3 when she began dance training at Cooper School of Dance in Danville. She continued with dance and began appearing in community theater after moving to Richmond where she appeared in her first stage performance as a munchkin in Richmond Area Theatre's Production of "The Wizard of Oz" at 8 years old. Emma's next appearance will be with Jersey Productions in Covington, opening in December, when she will take the stage in the holiday favorite, "Annie."

A former student at the Greater Cincinnati School for Creative and Performing Arts, she currently attends Conner Middle School as a seventh-grader where she is an honor roll student.

The Mercer Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet will be 6:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Lexington Street campus of Mercer County High School in the auditorium.

Tickets are $25 for members and $27 for nonmembers. Family Affair will cater the event.
