Sueticia Sutton has been named as the director of Danville-Boyle County Community Education on the Kentucky School for the Deaf campus.
A life-long resident of Danville, Sutton said she believes she has been preparing her whole life for this position.
"I can work 14 hours a day, go home and be tired, but I can't wait to get here again just to see what else we can accomplish," Sutton said.
Before becoming director she organized the classes at Community Education. She introduced such classes as skateboarding, death scene investigation, fly tying, Chinese culture and eBay how to.
Sutton said these classes are some of the more visible functions of Community Education, but there is more to the program. The organization also puts together classes for Danville Independent Schools, Boyle County Schools and Kentucky School for the Deaf. It does job skill training in conjunction with industry and classes for senior citizens. Sutton said she is continually seeking new ways to get the community involved and keep people informed about Community Education. Her most recent endeavor is to reach into the Hispanic community to offer some bilingual classes.
