Supports Coomer for mayor

October 31, 2006

Dear Editor,

It is nice to have friends and when you are running for political office and even more so if they are important, well known people in the community.

The candidate we are supporting for mayor of Danville, Hugh Coomer, has such friends.

But, as I knock on doors asking support for my candidate I am impressed by the number of ordinary people, whom I did not know, indeed had never met, who know Hugh. It is almost as if trying to give them a sales pitch is completely unnecessary. These are a few of the comments I heard on my walks through the neighborhoods.

"Known him all my life, a fine guy, will do a good job."

"Knew his father (and his grandfather) when they ran the store, wonderful family."

"Would not vote for any anyone else."

"Sold me my house, could not ask for a better person to do business with."

We can relate to those feelings. When we were considering a move to Danville we did not know a single person. We sought advice for a real estate person and the response from a patron in the restaurant was an enthusiastic "you want Hugh Coomer. He will really work to find you the house you want." They even directed us to his office!

He did exactly that. I will not burden you with the details, but it took real dedication on his part to get us to Danville. (We had purchased seven homes in our lifetime so we were not easily satisfied.)

After we purchased our home, his service and courtesy did not stop. On a visit prior to our move our vehicle needed repairs. Hugh recommended a repair shop he believed could do the work. For the several days we were to be without transportation he loaned us one of his personal vehicles so were not stranded. (So much for the claim Hugh Coomer only looks out for himself.)

We have lived in seven communities in our married life and have met countless business and professional people in that time. There is not a one we would rank higher than Hugh Coomer. He is truly a caring, professional business man, indeed person, in every sense of the word.

We like Danville. We hope we never have to move again. In our almost 13 years here my wife and I have done our best to contribute to the city's well being - and future!

Our concern for the future of Danville is why we are supporting Hugh Coomer for mayor of "our city." To steal a phrase, "we know we will be in good hands" if Hugh Coomer is elected mayor of Danville.
