A listing of participatory sporting events in and around the area:

BASKETBALL

Wednesday - Lincoln County K-2 Basketball Program begins practices begin at Lincoln County High School in Stanford. Kindergarten practice 8:30-9:30 a.m.; first-grade practice 9:30-10:30 a.m.; second-grade practice 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Saturday - Boyle County AAU 5th grade tryouts at Boyle County High School. Tryouts 10 a.m.-noon. Call Todd Bryant at 859-236-2767 or 859-319-3645.

Dec. 2 - Boyle County Youth Basketball Camp at Boyle County High School. Camp 9 a.m.-3 p.m. for boys and girls grades K-6. Fee $25, includes T-shirt. Entry deadline Nov. 28. Call Ronnie Bottoms at 859-236-9270.

Dec. 3, 10 - Wilderness Trace Family YMCA Skills & Drills Clinic. For ages 8-9. Fee $25 members, $40 non-members. Entry deadline Nov. 17. Call 859-734-9622 or 859-236-0359.

Registration open for Danville-Boyle County Parks & Recreation Department youth basketball and cheerleading at Davis Recreation Center. Basketball for boys kindergarten through high school and girls kindergarten through middle school, cheerleading for girls grades K-6. Fees $35 basketball, $40 cheerleading, $10 discount for additional family members. Call 859-238-1233.

CYCLING

RUNNING

Nov. 18 - Leadership Shelby Turkey Trot in Shelbyville. 5-mile race begins 9 a.m. at Shelby County Fairgrounds. Fee $20 through Saturday, $25 after Saturday. Call Beth Kovacs at 502-321-2800.
