Here come the bowl representatives.

Kentucky's football team, which is on the brink of bowl eligibility with three games remaining, will have a special guest - Chick-fil-A Bowl representative Frank Stiteler - in the press box when the Wildcats play host to Vanderbilt on Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium.

The bowl contest will match a team from the ACC and SEC on Dec. 30 in Atlanta.

Both Vandy and Kentucky will be scouted as potential representatives for the game. Teams selected for the bowl will be announced on Dec. 3.

Class inducted

The inaugural athletics Hall of Fame class at Eastern Kentucky University was inducted during a ceremony last Friday at the Keen Johnson Ballroom.

Among the 38 distinguished individuals who were inducted included a group of 25 known as "The Founders," who were previously honored during the 1974 centennial athletics awards banquet.

Among the inductees were Fred Darling, former George Rogers Clark High School girls' basketball coach Lisa Goodin, former men's basketball coach Paul McBrayer, legendary football coach Roy Kidd, Fred Darling, former NFL star Chad Bratzke, longtime sports information director Karl Park and trainer Bobby Barton.

Cindy Darling Codell of Winchester and the eldest daughter of Darling, along with her sister Debra Darling Peters, accepted the award for the late football, basketball and track coach at the school.

Darling was on the staff of the school's undefeated Tangerine Bowl team in 1954. He retired from coaching in 1961 to become a full-time teacher.

Among the other former greats inducted at the school included Wally Chambers, Aaron Marsh, Jackie Humphrey, Jim Guice and former New York Yankees player Earle Combs.

players honored

George Rogers Clark High School soccer players Katie Sundall and Taylor Warren were honorable mention all-state selections.

Both players were chosen as honorable mention on the East squad.

Team in Final Four

The Winchester Crush soccer team competed in the opening round of the Commonwealth Cup Soccer Tournament last weekend in Elizabethtown and advanced to the Final Four that will be played this weekend.

Pizza winner

Congratulations to Jack Jones of Winchester who went 9-1 last week to win in the "Pick against the Pros" contest.

Jones picked nine of 10 games to beat this writer, who went 8-2 to close within three games of the guru, who split the 10-game slate last week.

The week, Tennessee is at Arkansas, Vanderbilt meets Kentucky, Wake Forest plays at Florida State and Georgia is at Auburn.
