Eddie Montgomery tour buses to help toy drive

November 19, 2006

Country singer Eddie Montgomery and his wife Tracy will open their tour buses at Millennium Park next Sunday to raise money for the Danville Fire Department's annual Christmas Toy Drive.

The event will be held 2-5 p.m. in the parking lot in front of the soccer pavilion at the park's entrance off Perryville Road. Along with the Montgomery's personal touring vehicle, the event also will have the Wild Bunch's Jim Beam Bus used by Montgomery-Gentry's road band, a bus used by Kevin Federline (estranged husband of Britney Spears) and one other road bus from the entertainment field.

The cost of admission is $5 per person or a new toy. Volunteers will help with donations, parking and accompanying tour groups, with concessions staffed by the Boyle County High School Cheerleaders.

In addition, participants also can buy tickets for a drawing for a pair of concert tickets for the Montgomery-Gentry New Year's concert at Rupp Arena. The concert will feature special guests Gary Allan, Rodney Atkins and Styx. Ticket chances are $5 with the drawing held at 5 p.m.

Fans can have pictures taken with Eddie Montgomery and can take photographs around the outside of the buses at the event. Cameras are not allowed inside the buses, but die-hard fans can get an up-close look at how the stars live while touring the country.

The singer for award winning duo Montgomery-Gentry and his wife have been strong supporters of the toy program, sponsoring events that have raised thousands of dollars and brought in several truckloads of toys for needy families in Boyle County.

The toy drive provides toys, gifts and clothing for needy children in and around Boyle County. The program currently is accepting donations of money and new or gently used toys at central Fire Station. Checks made payable to the toys program can be sent to Christmas Toy Drive, P.O. Box 670, Danville, KY 40423-0670.
