Eagle's Nest Church - 7 p.m. Monday, evangelist Anna Byrd will speak. The church is on Tank Pond Road in Parksville.

Music

Lexington Avenue Baptist Church - 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Christmas concert with Debbie Baker Harman, Phil Quinn and Rusty Bird featuring selections from their new Christmas recording. The church is at 339 W. Lexington Ave., Danville. For more information, call (859) 236-3565.

Carpenter's Christian Church - 7 p.m. Saturday, Perfect Peace Ministry presents its monthly Southern Gospel Sing. Performers include the Men's Trio, Ladies Ensemble, The Choir, several soloists and The Highbargers. The church is at 1340 U.S. 127 Bypass, Harrodsburg. Trinity Episcopal Church - 5 p.m. Sunday for a Choral Evensong directed by Vicky Bell. The Asbury College collegium Musicum Vocal Ensemble will join the Trinity choir. Donations will be accepted to the Vocal Ensemble's performance tour in Italy.

Choral Evensong originated in 16th century England. It is the musical setting of evening prayer service and sung regularly in many English cathedrals. A reception will follow the service.

Cathedral of Christ the King - 2:30 p.m. Dec. 10 for a performance by Cully Bell, a graduate student at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory, as part of the church's concert series.

Bell graduated from the University of Kentucky School of Music in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in music. In June of 2006, Bell completed the requirements for a master of music, and is presently pursuing a doctor of musical arts at the conservatory. The Dec. 10 program will include works by Busoni, Haydn and Franck. The church is at 299 Colony Boulevard in Lexington.

Hedgeville Baptist Church - 7 p.m. Dec. 9 and 10, Christmas cantata, "Jesus, There's Something About That Name." The church is at 4700 Lancaster Road.

Hope Independent Church - 6:30 p.m. Saturday for a performance by the Spiritual Gatekeepers of Lexington.

Special services

Stanford First Church of God - 6 p.m. Sunday, Hanging of the Greens service. A reception will follow. The church is located at 410 Logan Ave. For more information, call (606) 355-0026.

Hedgeville Baptist Church - 7 p.m. Sunday, services will focus on the true meaning of the Christmas symbols and special music. The church is located on Ky. 52, 7 miles east of Danville, 7 miles west of Lancaster. For more information, call the church at (859) 236-0662. Services are interpreted for the deaf.

Food sales

Junction City Christian Church - 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, the church will have a chili luncheon, bake sale and Christmas bazaar. The church is on Shelby Street. For more information, call (859) 854-6510.

Church of Christ of Junction City - Dec. 4-8, the church will sponsor evangelist J.D. McDonald and Joe Hill in canvassing the Junction City area. They will answer bible questions. Anyone wishing to have private bible study may call (859) 854-6124.

Danville Christian Women's Club - Noon Dec. 7 at the Danville Country Club for a Christmas celebration. Becky Horseman will share decorating tips. The club is a non-denominational group.
