Three Casey teens injured

LIBERTY - After an attempt to miss a deer on Ky. 49 early today, a truck went out of control injuring three teenagers, said Sheriff Jerry Coffman. The wreck occurred two miles north of Liberty.

Driver Wesley N. Buck, 16, and passengers Justin Cochran, 14, both of 390 Buck Road, and Zachery T. Cochran, 16, of 2443 Wilson Ridge Road, were taken to Casey County Hospital for treatment, Coffman said.

Coffman said Buck was driving a Dodge pickup truck on Brush Creek Hill about 8 a.m. when the deer appeared in the road. The truck went out of control in a curve and struck an embankment.

The teens were on their way to school when the accident happened, Coffman said.

Man faces disorderly conduct charges

LIBERTY - Joey Payne, 45, of Casey County, was arrested Saturday on charges of disorderly conduct, police said.

Deputy Sheriff Chad Weddle charged Payne with disorderly conduct, menacing and third-degree terroristic threatening. Payne is accused of being involved in a domestic dispute. He also allegedly threatened Weddle during the arrest at Liberty Manor apartments on Hustonville Street.

Payne was lodged in the Casey Detention Center.

Weddle was assisted by city police officers.

Casey man arrested for indecent exposure

LIBERTY - Mark Sayers, 36, of 5890 Merritt Ridge Road, Windsor, has been charged with second-degree indecent exposure, according to a report by Deputy Sheriff Freemen E. Luttrell.

This is a repeat offense for Sayers. His bond is $5,000. He was instructed to stay away from the two female victims.

Taylor County woman killed in crash

LEBANON - A Campbellsville woman was killed Wednesday morning in a one-vehicle crash on Ky. 1195, state police said.

Phyllis Jean Coffey, 36, was driving south at 8:10 a.m. when she lost control of her 1997 Geo in a curve, according to a report by Trooper Israel Slinker. The vehicle overcorrected, ran off the right shoulder and into a ditch. The car then struck a culvert, which caused Coffey to be ejected from the vehicle and the vehicle to overturn.

She was flown from the scene to University of Louisville Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 10:32 a.m. by the Jefferson County coroner. She was not wearing a seat belt.
