Pioneer Vocational holds open house

Pioneer Vocational Industrial Services will have an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony 2-6 p.m. Tuesday at its new facility at 150 Corporate Drive. The public is welcome and will have an opportunity to meet new executive director Ronnie Zimmerman.

Lincoln offers health classes

The Lincoln County Extension Office and the Lincoln County Health Department are offering classes in weight loss and diabetes education.

The eight-week wellness program is for those looking to get in shape and get active. Meetings include taste-testing, nutrition education and physical activity, as well as health screenings by Ephraim McDowell Health. The cost is $15. Class size is limited to 20 people. Registration is required by Jan. 17.

A free, three-session diabetes self management education seminar begins Jan. 25. Session times are 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Jan. 25, Feb. 1 and Feb. 8. A snack will be served at each meeting.

Registration for both programs can be completed by calling the Lincoln County Extension Office at (606) 365-2447.

Story time set for children

Story time and snacks are planned this month by Boyle County Early Childhood Council at two child care facilities. The events are for children ages 2 to 13.

Calvary Child Care Center, Waveland Avenue, will have story time and snacks 5:30-6:30 p.m. Jan. 18. Tender Care on Stanford Avenue will have the events 5:30-6:30 p.m. Jan. 23. Call Jamie Oakes at (859) 236-2053 for information.

MEETING

Boyle County Agriculture Development Board - 7 p.m. Tuesday at the extension office to discuss program applications.
