Titus Musick

Sept. 23, 1932 - Jan. 13, 2007

Titus Musick, age 74, of Sourwood Mountain, Va., died Saturday, Jan. 13, at Russell County Medical Center.

Born Sept. 23, 1932, a son of the late Leamon and the late Ebbie Musick, he was a lifelong resident of Sourwood Mountain. He was of the Christian faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta Sutherland Musick; three brothers, Hurley, Curtis and Basil Musick; and one sister, Odessia Jean Musick.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Musick of Cleveland; one stepson, Nathan Mullins and his wife, Betty, of Booneville, Ky.; one step-grandson, Todd Mullins and his wife, Nicholasville; six sisters, Julia Carmichael of Airville, Pa., Edith Buchheister and her husband, Bob, of Castlewood, Va., Patricia Stacy of Sykesville, Md., Alice Musick of Joppa, Md., Eileen Bandy and her husband, Jim, of Dade City, Fla., and Irene Sproles of Castlewood; also several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel in Lebanon, Va., with the Rev. Cecil Musick and the Rev. Giles Wilson officiating.

Burial followed at Fielding Musick Cemetery.

Nephews and friends served as pallbearers.

Gene Rodgers

March 22, 1939 - Jan. 14, 2007

Gene Walter Rodgers, 67, of Lexington, husband of Marilyn Kay Lawson Rodgers, died Sunday, Jan. 14, at St. Joseph Hospital.

He was the son of the late William Hershell and Clara Sweeny Rodgers and was a maintenance worker for Executive East.

Besides his wife, survivors include three daughters, Brenda Webb of Lexington, Revia Stokley of Nicholasville and Betty Sims of Harrodsburg; four sisters, Joyce Blythe, Patricia Wilhoite, Rosene McLean and Ethel Wood, all of Frankfort; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Ballinger and Carolyn Johnson.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Main Street in Lexington with the Rev. Bill Miller officiating.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Constance Shaden

Oct. 18, 1966 - Jan. 13, 2007

Constance "Connie" Wineka Shaden, 40, died Saturday, Jan. 13, at Central Baptist Hospital.

A native of Fort Thomas, Ky., she was born Oct. 18, 1966.

She is survived by her husband, Edward; a son, Justin; a daughter, Samantha; her father, Bruce Wineka and his wife, Veronica; four sisters, Martha Wade and her husband, David, Tamatha Osborne, Melissa Wineka and her husband, Roger Williamson and Heather Wineka of St. Petersburg; a brother, Greg Wineka and his wife, Christina; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eddie and Joyce Shaden; a grandmother, Ruth Wineka of Nicholasville; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Michael Osborne.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucy McElfresh Wineka.

She was instrumental in establishing Toys for Tots in Garrard County. She was a former employee of the Parkette Drive-In, The Ketch, The Fifth Quarter, and Darrell's Restaurant.

A celebration of her life will be held at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the time of service.

Paul Slaughter

Dec. 16, 1915 - Jan. 9, 2007

Paul Lewis Slaughter, 91, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home.

Born Dec. 16, 1915, in Hart County, he was a son of Thomas and Cattie Richardson Slaughter.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Virginia Roberts Slaughter; a son, Tom Slaughter and his wife, Louise, of Lexington; a daughter, Jenny Ralston and her husband, Rick, of Versailles; five grandchildren and their spouses, Millie and Daniel Hardigree of Nicholasville, Thomas Slaughter of Chandler, Ariz., Paulette and Jay Akers of Versailles, Richelle Ralston of Lexington, Seth Ralston of Versailles; and five great-grandchildren.

One great-grandchild is deceased.

Visitation was at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home in Versailles.

Services were at 2 p.m. on Friday with Judge Tim Philpot and the Rev. Tom Ditto officiating.

Interment followed at Rose Crest Cemetery.

Lucille Snowden

April 21, 1916 - Jan. 13, 2007

Lucille Thompson Snowden, 90, widow of Claude Richard Snowden, died Saturday, Jan. 13, at Homestead Nursing Home.

Born in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Charles Robert and Susie Hisel Thompson. She was a retired seamstress for Irvine Air Chute and the Piece Goods Shop. She was a member of Boones Creek Baptist Church.
