Clark's Run town forum scheduled

Clark's Run Town Forum will be 7-8 p.m. March 6 at the United Way office, 118 North Third St., Danville, with an open house 6-7 p.m.

The following organizations will have booths on display for the open house: Kentucky River Watershed Watch, Bluegrass PRIDE, Herrington Lake Conservation League, Water Watch (Boyle County schools), Third Rock, United States Environmental Protection Agency and Bikeway Initiative for Kentucky Enhancements. Refreshments will be available; door prizes will be given.

The town forum agenda includes a photo presentation about Clark's Run; the history of Clark's Run and an introduction to watersheds; information on Dix Watershed and why the EPA is interested in it; the answer to why Clark's Run is a Kentucky priority watershed; a discussion on water quality issues within Clark's Run; and discussions on related city/county initiatives and CREEC's goals and visions.

Valentine's Day dance scheduled

Fraternal Order of Eagles 4394 Ladies Auxiliary will host a Valentine's Day dance 8 p.m.-midnight Saturday at its facility on Lucas Street. Little South will perform; tickets will be drawn for a gift basket. Two names will be drawn, one male and one female, for the 2007 Eagles Sweethearts. A corn toss tournament begins 8 p.m. today; cost is $2 per player. For more information, call (859) 854-6847.

Books for babies needed

In honor of Read Across America Day, all students and staff of Danville Schools are joining together to give the gift of reading to babies born at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

To participate, purchase a brand new book suitable for parents to read aloud to their baby. Drop off the book (or cash so that books can be purchased) in the library at Danville High School today through March 1.

Free computer class offered

Danville Adult Education is offering a free computer class beginning 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 22. Call (859) 238-1303 by Tuesday to enroll.

Meetings

Wilderness Trace Art League Board of Directors - 7 p.m. Monday at Wilderness Trace Art Gallery. The board will plan the league's activities for 2007.

Danville-Boyle County Planning and Zoning Commission - 9 a.m. Wednesday at city hall for an update on zone changes for Jerry Tomlinson of U.S. 127 in Junction City and Davco on the Danville bypass, among other agenda items.
