Isaiah House elects board officers

The Isaiah House Christian Drug and Alcohol Recovery Center in Lincoln County recently elected Mike Mullins as board president and Ray Montgomery as vice president.

Mullins is pastor of Parlor Grove Baptist Church in Waynesburg and has pastored in Lincoln County for 35 years. He is retired from the Lincoln County Board of Education and is a former teacher and principal, and has a master's degree in education from the University of Kentucky.

Montgomery has been employed by D&D Machinery in Lexington since January 2000. Prior to that he was with Matsushita for 16 years. He is a Boyle County High School graduate and a graduate of University of Kentucky and Lindsey Wilson.

The Isaiah House Drug and Alcohol Recovery Center is a long-term residential treatment facility entering its sixth year of service. It has treated men from all across Kentucky and nine states.

Diabetes program set

The Boyle County Diabetes Coalition will present a program titled "What's To Eat?" 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Boyle County Health Department. The speaker will be Angie Chadwell of Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Discussion will include sorting out diabetes meal plans. There is no cost for attending this program; light refreshments will be served.

United Way to host awards banquet

Heart of Kentucky United Way will host its annual awards banquet 11:45 p.m. March 20 at Centenary United Methodist Church Christian Life Center. The event is held to recognize individuals and companies who contribute to the communities. The theme this year is "What kind of world do you want?" Awards will be presented to recipients from Boyle, Garrard, Lincoln and Mercer counties.

Obedience class scheduled

A free obedience session for anyone who has adopted a dog or puppy from the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Danville Convention Center on the Danville bypass. The class, taught by veteran dog trainer Cheri Carbone, teaches basic commands and gives adopters a chance to answer questions about problem behaviors. Participants should follow signs to an entrance in the rear of the building. For more information, call the humane society at (859) 238-1117.
