Three face illegal drug charges

HARRODSBURG - Three local residents have been arrested on illegal drug and other charges, police said.

Benjamine J. Stokes, 54, of 459 W. Broadway and Laura L. Cooper, 42, of 351 Gaither Ave., were charged Saturday with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Officer Lynn Davis said police stopped the vehicle after observing Stokes driving in a careless manner.

In another case, Cash R. Moore II, 26, of 700 Old Dixville Road, was charged Friday with possession of marijuana, improper registration and driving with a suspended license.

Moore was arrested in a traffic stop on East Street for having no visible license plate, according to Davis.

The three were taken to the Boyle County Detention Center.

Man faces robbery charge

HARRODSBURG - Ryan Garrett Johnson, 46, of 2445 Bohon Road was charged Friday with second-degree robbery, police said.

He is accused of taking four ribeye steaks valued at $44 from Kroger on South College Street.

Officer Jason Elder reported that Johnson concealed four steaks inside his pants and jacket pockets, then exited the store.

Johnson started running after he was confronted by a loss-prevention officer. The officer received minor injuries to his left arm and knee, according to Elder.

Johnson was taken to the Boyle County Detention Center.
