Letters to the editor

March 29, 2007

To the editor,

Are the values of respect, compassion and courtesy not being taught to children anymore? Have adults forgotten what those words mean?

I am writing to express my opinion on parking in residential areas. We moved to Nicholasville almost seven years ago because we felt this was a community that represented hospitality, values and a place where we would feel safe. My feelings haven't changed. I feel that Nicholasville has the finest police, fire and emergency services that make it a safe place to live. They deserve every dollar and more.

I understand that there is no law that prohibits vehicles parking anywhere on streets in residential areas. However, I do think everyone should utilize their own driveways and space before infringing upon someone else. I cannot understand why anyone would be so inconsiderate as to want to park in front of someone else's home when they have their own space and driveway to use.

There may not be a law against parking in front of your neighbor's house, but it is certainly against the law of decency and respect.
