If things go as planned business will be picking up in northern Jessamine County.

Last Thursday, White/Reach LLC asked the Nicholasville City Commission's approval to go before the annexation committee for the purpose of bringing a Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and a Rite Aid to northern Jessamine County.

"They're just trying to get the property annexed," said Planning Commission Director Greg Bohnett. "That's what they approached the commission for. We (annexation committee) talked about it, and we're going to make a recommendation at the first meeting in April (April 12)."

Attorney Bruce Smith, representing White/Reach LLC, said his client had reached a deal to purchase King's Garden, adding the Cracker Barrel and a Rite Aid will be located in that area.

"A Rite Aid will be on the corner and a Cracker Barrel immediately south," Smith said. "It's anticipated, when it's fully built out, it will have about $10 million of assessed value. This does not include payroll taxes."

White/Reach LLC is looking to annex nine acres, which will bring the city $94,500 in impact fees.

Bohnett said there are several hoops to go through before construction can begin. Those hoops include the annexation and zone changing process.

"The earliest they could do something out there would be August, that's just a guess," he said.

A Sam's Club is also in the works for Nicholasville, Bohnett said.

The store, which is scheduled to open in 2008, will be located next to Kohl's on Kohl's Drive, just of U.S. 27.

The Sam's Club is not affiliated with White/Reach LLC.

Earlier this month, Man 'O War Ford announced that it will be relocating to Nicholasville. The dealership will be located on 10.5 acres of land between Brannon Crossing and the Lexington Chinese Christian Church.
