Tennis: Garrard tops Boyle

Danville, Mercer gain wins

The bottom of the order came through for the Garrard County girls Monday, as the Golden Lions got a No. 6 singles win from Charlotte Hegel and a No. 3 doubles win from Hegel and Whitney Napier to beat visiting Boyle County 5-4.

Garrard's Stacy Drew and Marissa Brown of Boyle each had singles and doubles wins.

Danville 8, Madison Southern 1

At Danville, after dropping the first singles match, host Danville lost just one game the rest of the way to beat Madison Southern.

Allison Baeker, Jordan Beth Davis, Rachel Ricker, McKay Nelson and Katie Ward were all double winners for the Admirals.

At Monticello, host Wayne defeated Casey for the second time in four days. Brooke Ponder and Kim True had the only wins for Casey, which lost 6-3 to Wayne on Friday.

Mercer County 9, Pulaski County 0

At Harrodsburg, the Mercer County boys swept Pulaski County for a home win.

Mercer's top two singles players, No. 1 Phillip Carlisle and No. 2 Matt Teater, each won by 8-1 scores. The Titans' top two doubles teams, Daarik Gray and Kyle Chadwick at No. 1 and Brandon Kidd and Keita Uchida at No. 2, were each 8-0 winners.
