The Danville High School Academic Team has earned another statewide honor. Only a few weeks after capturing the school's first state championship in Quick Recall, two of the team's players were selected to the Kentucky All-Star Academic Team.
Rachel Beckman and John Liu were selected to be part of the six-player team chosen from among the approximately 4,500 players in the state. Danville was the only team to receive two selections to the team. Other schools with players on the team are Johnson Central High School, Lexington Dunbar, Russell Independent High School and Simon Kenton High School.
Beckman and Liu will travel with the other players to Orlando, Fla., to compete in the Panasonic Academic Challenge National Championships from June 23-27. The PAC draws the top team from every state and several U.S. territories.
The players, known collectively as "Team Kentucky," will hold their first practice April 21 on the campus of Morehead State University to begin their preparations.
