Centre Baseball: Colonels beaten by Cumberlands

April 18, 2007

Cumberlands unloaded on Centre in the late innings to defeat the Colonels 13-2 on Tuesday at Williamsburg.

Cumberlands took advantage of 12 hits and three Centre errors to score 11 runs in the fourth through sixth innings.

Centre (14-20) was within 2-1 until that onslaught, which included a five-run fifth inning that made it 10-1 and put the game out of reach.

Centre starting pitcher Jon Herbert allowed five runs on seven hits before leaving in the fifth inning. Johnny Karnes allowed five runs on six hits in one inning, and Jake Jones allowed three runs on two hits in one inning.

Jones scored the Colonels' first run on a wild pitch in the fourth inning, and they got one more in the seventh on an RBI single by Drew Allison.
