"He has great accuracy from mid-range to beyond the 3-point line," Telep told Scout.com. "Legion has patience and is a team player. Even though he is a scorer, the guy is totally unselfish with the basketball. He just wants to win. He is going to be a great fit for Kentucky.
"He knows that Kentucky has good senior talent at the guard positions and is not going to come in thinking he can take over out of the gate, but with his scoring ability, he has a chance to earn playing time this year for the Wildcats."
Kentucky returns senior guards Ramel Bradley and Joe Crawford. The Wildcats will also return sophomore guards Jodie Meeks, Derrick Jasper and Michael Porter.
Another Scout.com recruiting analyst, Jeff Goodman, says Legion is more versatile than many believe.
Pure two-guard
"If you are Billy Gillispie, you know he is a pure two-guard and that's the way you want to use him. Still, I found him to be a better ball handler and distributor than I expected. He is not at all one dimensional," Goodman said.
Steve Smith, Legion's coach at Oak Hill, said Legion visited Kentucky last weekend with his mother. Smith said Legion was not promised playing time and knows he has talented returning players ahead of him.
"But he wants to play for Kentucky and coach Gillispie," Smith said. "Like most players, he needs to work on his ball-handling and defense, but he's not afraid to work. He's already a good player, but he knows he can be better."
Gillispie continues to pursue two other prep All-Americans - point guard Jai Lucas and power forward Patrick Patterson.
Lucas is still considering Oklahoma State, Florida, Maryland and Oklahoma as well as Kentucky. Patterson still has Florida and Duke on his final list.
Lucas has indicated he could make his decision in the next several days while Patterson now says he may not pick a school until mid-May.
Gillispie also remains involved with 6-8 forward Michael Sanchez of Arkansas. He was originally headed to a prep school, but now has Kentucky and new Arkansas coach John Pelphrey heavily pursuing him.
Delk transfers
Mississippi State guard Reginald Delk will transfer to Louisville. Delk averaged 9.5 points and 2.5 rebounds for the Bulldogs during his sophomore season, helping Mississippi State to a 21-14 record. He started 59 of 65 games over the last two years.
Delk is the nephew of former Kentucky star Tony Delk, who played under Pitino at Kentucky from 1993-96.
