Lincoln County officials are making cold-check writers a deal they perhaps shouldn't refuse.
Persons with outstanding cold checks or who have a pending criminal summons for cold checks may clear the books without having to go to court-or jail, said Sheriff Curt Folger.
"If you contact the sheriff's office before May 17, your name will be removed from a list of names of persons who have cold-check charges pending. The list will be published in the local newspaper May 31," Folger said.
Those who fail to take advantage of this offer will have their cases referred for further action, he said.
"It will never be this easy again," Folger said. "If you know that you have cold checks pending, help us clear your name."
