LCHS grads perform better than state average

Lincoln County Schools recently received feedback on its high school graduates' performance during their first two years of college in Kentucky as well as the money that was disbursed to graduates.

The High School Feedback Report: Class of 2004 was produced collaboratively with data collected by the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education, Kentucky Department of Education, Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority, with test scores reported by American College Testing (ACT), and the College Board (Advanced Placement testing).

The Composite ACT score for Lincoln County Class of 2004 (221 graduates) was 20.2 as compared to 20.7 (41,328 graduates) for the state of Kentucky. This class also took 25 Advanced Placement tests with 52 percent receiving scores of 3 or higher (minimum necessary to receive college credit) as compared to 46.2 percent (7,848 tests taken) for the state of Kentucky.

Lincoln County High School's graduation rate was 85.1 percent as compared to 81.3 percent for the state of Kentucky.

Of those graduates that entered Kentucky colleges and universities, 88.5 percent as compared to 84.2 percent for the state of Kentucky earned a grade of "C" or better in English and 80.0 percent as compared to 74.1 percent for the state of Kentucky earned a grade of "C" or better in math. Those same students earned an average GPA at the end of the first year in college of 2.45 as compared to 2.28 for the state of Kentucky on a 4.0 scale.

Lincoln County graduates, for the fiscal year of 2006, received $365,888 in financial aid and $208,316 in scholarship and grants.
