Golf notes: McCann gets vote

April 26, 2007|Graham Johns/Sun Golf Columnist

I received a phone call from one of our readers in Naples, Fla. regarding Clark County's all-time greatest golfers.

He mentioned several outstanding players, but at the top of his list was Bob McCann. McCann is a five-time winner of the Memorial Weekend Match Play Championship at the Winchester Country Club.

He has won the Men's Club Championship there 11 times and at Spring Valley Country Club in Lexington four times.

After graduating from George Rogers Clark High School, McCann went to Morehead State University where he was a member of the 1981 Ohio Valley Conference championship team.

If you would like to nominate someone, please call or e-mail me.
