The Kentucky Tourism Council has selected the Great American Brass Band Festival and the "Raintree County" 50th Anniversary Festival as two of the state's summer "Top 10" events.
The Great American Brass Band Festival, set for June 8-10 in Danville, has been called the country's most unique music festival. It begins with a New Orleans-style parade down Main Street and continues with ragtime favorites, marches and the swingin' beat of Bourbon Street.

The "Raintree County" Festival, planned for July 24-Aug. 5 in Danville, will include rare behind-the-scenes photos and eyewitness histories, presented in multimedia formats. The goal of the festival is to collect, preserve and display a glorious but forgotten piece of Kentucky history for future generations to enjoy. A panel of impartial judges selects the Kentucky Tourism Council "Top 10" Events for each season. Criteria for selection include popularity of the event, its impact on the local tourism economy as well as cultural and historical significance.
