Sharon M. Holmes and G. Montez Thomas, both of Durham, N.C. announce their engagement.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Richard L. and Wanda J. Holmes Jr. of Jackson, Mich.
She is a graduate of Jackson High School, the University of Michigan and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is employed at the UNC School of Social Work.
The future groom is the son of Gordon E. Mitchell and Martha C. Thomas, of Keene and Lexington, respectively.
He is a graduate of East Jessamine High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The wedding will take place Aug. 4 at Mount Level Missionary Baptist Church in Durham.
