The League of Women Voters of Berea and Madison County, and the Eastern Kentucky University Center for Kentucky History and Politics will sponsor a forum for candidates for district judge in the May 22 Kentucky primary election.

The forum will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Richmond City Hall on Main Street in Richmond.

Guest panelists for the forum are William Fortune of the University of Kentucky College of Law and the Judicial Campaign Conduct Committee, and Lynnette Noblitt, with the Eastern Kentucky University paralegal program.

Candidates participating in the forum are: Thomas J. Smith III, Jud Patterson, Elizabeth E. Bond, John F. Lackey, Wes Browne, David G. Perdue and Earl Ray Neal.

Kentucky has a new judicial district for Clark and Madison counties in order to address an increasing case load. Voters will have an opportunity to choose two judicial candidates on the May 22 primary election. The top two vote-getters will face off for one district judge slot in the November 2007 election.
