Statewide 5K races to promote healthy living

May 04, 2007

FRANKFORT - A statewide Get Healthy Kentucky 5K and a 3.1-mile fun run/walk are set for May 12 in several locations around Kentucky.

Get Healthy Kentucky and YMCAs of Kentucky are teaming up to promote health and wellness through increased physical activity, healthy eating, and tobacco prevention and cessation.

"It doesn't matter if you're a competitive runner, an intermediate, or have never competed in a race," said GHK Executive Director Chris L. Corbin, who started running several years ago and successfully completed the Chicago marathon last fall. "Anyone can participate in a GHK 5K. It's a great way to do something for yourself and help us spread the Get Healthy message of making positive health and lifestyle choices to more Kentuckians."

The following YMCAs are partners with Get Healthy Kentucky for the GHK 5K event. For more information, contact your participating YMCA. Registration the day of the race starts 90 minutes before the event at all locations.
