Clark County Home Economists learn techniques for flower baskets

The Clark County Home Economists met at Al's Garden Center Tuesday afternoon for a program by master gardener Marge Walker.

Walker demonstrated planting moss-lined baskets with geraniums, Diascia, Bocopa, Dipladenia, vinca vine, Splash and snapdragons.

Following a tour of the greenhouses, the rose garden and nursery facilities, the group had lunch at Applebees' in Winchester.

President Marian Sublette conducted the business meeting and the following slate of officers was presented: president, Maryett Gyula; vice-president Carolyn Taylor; secretary; Delores Segress; and treasurer, Crystal Smith.

A memorial gift was given to the First Baptist Church in Winchester in honor of Dorothy Givens, a recently deceased member.

Present were Marge Walker, Kaaren Westlund, Barbara Wicker, Evelyn Lane, Mary Louis Evans, Nancy Strosnider, Delores Segress, Mary Louis Evans and Imogene Haggard.

Guests were Sallie Evans and Clark Haggard.

Hostesses were Karen Westlund and Marge Walker.

It was announced that June meeting will be a picnic at Boonesboro State Park picnic shelter by the river Tuesday, June 12 at 6:30 p.m. with Imogene Haggard, Rose Swope and Mary Louis Evans as hostesses.
