CALVIN "SIE" DEVARY

Calvin "Sie" DeVary, 80, of White-Conkwright Road, died at 11:10 p.m. Saturday at his home.

A native of Clark County, he was the son of the late Sheldon and Ida Frances Goolman DeVary. He was a farmer.

Survivors include six nephews and four nieces-in-law, Herbert DeVary of Clay City, Ronald and Katrena DeVary, Fred and Vicki DeVary, William David and Judy DeVary and Mike DeVary, all of Clark County and Marcus and Rhonda DeVary of Ravenna; four nieces and two nephews-in-law, Frances DeVary Greene and Debbie DeVary, both of Fayette County, Pamela and Barry Wells of Winchester and Shannon and Harry Fiefhaus of Clark County; a brother, Herman and Imogene DeVary and Sallie B. DeVary, all of Winchester; a sister-in-law, Pauline Prewitt DeVary of Clay City and several great nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, William and Jay and Herbert "Dale" DeVary and a great-nephew, Herbert Wayne DeVary.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Scobee Funeral Home by the Rev. Doyle Spry and the Rev. William Bush. Burial will be in Eaton Cemetery in Clay City.

Pallbearers will be Fred DeVary, Ronald DeVary, Herbert DeVary Jr., Mike DeVary, Mark DeVary and Shane Greene; honorary, David DeVary, Eugene Hampton, Randy Hall, Jesse Dawson, Gayle Bostic, Hubert Estes and Barry Wells.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Hospice East, 407 Shoppers Drive, Winchester, KY 40391.

HANNAH J. MATHIS

Services for Hannah Lou Johnson Mathis, 65, of Loyall, who died Wednesday at her home, were held at 7 p.m. Friday at Loyall Church of God, with burial on Saturday at Uplands Cemetery in Hulen.

A native of Harlan County and previously of Winchester and Rodgersville, Tenn., she was the previous owner of World of Beauty Hair Salon and previous co-owner of Carlo's Pizza in Clay City and Beattyville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan Johnson and Mary Slusher Johnson; two brothers, Eddie Ray Johnson and Daniel Johnson, and one sister, Joan Vanover.

She is survived by five children, Walter H. Mathis Jr. and his girlfriend Sondra Burke, Della Dejuan Miller of Marietta, Ga., Wesley Brent Mathis and his wife Lesley of Lexington, Patricia Columbia and her husband Paul of Winchester, and Kenneth A. Mathis and his wife Carey of Franklin, Tenn.; one brother, Lee Johnson of Glendale, Ariz.; and four sisters, Verda Marlene Clem and her husband Jack, Norma Jean Head, Lillie Vanhooser, all of Loyall, and Della Hacker of Delaware.

Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, Summer Knox, Walter H. Mathis III, Brooke E. Mathis, Whitney B. Miller, Ryan K. Miller, Leah Geers, Wade Mathis, Stephen Columbia, Brittany Columbia, Bethany Columbia, Preston Mathis and Sydney Mathis; and one great-grandchild, Jaden Columbia.

REV. HARVEY ROBINSON JR.

Rev. Harvey Robinson Jr., 65, of 50 Seventh St., died at 10:55 a.m. Sunday at the Clark Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements are incomplete at Chenault Brothers Funeral Home.

ELEANOR H. SEWALLS

Eleanor Horton Sewalls, 88, of 23 Colby Hills Circle, widow of Carl Sewalls, died at 7:10 a.m. Saturday at Lexington Country Place.

A native of Newark, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Margaret Hart Horton. She was retired from National State Bank, Hillside, N.J., and attended the First United Methodist Church here. She was a volunteer for the U.S.O. during World War II and was a member of the Rainbow Girls.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert C. and Carolyn Sewalls of Clark County and William L. Sewalls of Norcross, Ga.; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth J. and Douglas Wiltraut of Whitehall, Pa.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted at noon today at the Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home by the Rev. James Williams. Burial was in the Winchester Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dr. Travis Sewalls, Douglas Wiltraut, Jonathan Wiltraut, John Hoptak and Vincent Rosenthal.

Visitation was from 10:30 a.m. today until the hour of service.

EDDIE M. GRIFFITH

Eddie Mae Griffith, 89, of 8 Sylvania Ave., widow of George E. Griffith, died at 11:16 a.m. Saturday at the Clark Regional Medical Center.

A native of Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late George David and Laura Bell Tackett Kerns. She was a homemaker, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Mount Carmel Christian Church.
