Gospel concert set for Saturday

MORELAND - The West Lincoln EMS/Rescue Squad in Moreland will hold a gospel concert 7 p.m. Saturday at Lincoln County High School featuring the London gospel group Atoned and Barbara Andrew of Stanford. Door prizes will be given and refreshments will be available. Proceeds and donations will go to the EMS equipment fund. For more information and tickets, call (606) 346-4520.

Boyle fair pageants accepting contestants

McDowell offering swim lessons

McDowell Wellness Center is offering its next set of swimming lessons June 25 through July 6. Classes will be Monday through Thursday on the first week and Monday through Friday on the second week, taking off on Wednesday the second week.

The schedule is as follows:

* White Level and Red Level - 2-2:45 p.m.

* White Level and Yellow Level - 3-3:45 p.m.

* Yellow Level and Red Level - 4-4:45 p.m.

* Blue/Green Level - 5-5:45 p.m. and Preschool class - 5-5:30 p.m.

* White Level and Yellow Level - 6-6:45 p.m.

McDowell offering lifeguard certification

McDowell Wellness Center, a service of Ephraim McDowell Health, is offering lifeguard certification classes 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 26-29.

Classes are approved by the American Red Cross. The course includes lifeguarding, CPR for the professional rescuer, Automated External Defibrillator training, administering emergency oxygen, community first aid and bloodborne pathogens certifications.

Participants should bring two towels, a CPR mask and lifeguard book to the class.

The cost is $150 for members or $175 for non-members. The fee must be paid by the first day of class.

McDowell offering Rookie Boot Camp

McDowell Wellness Center is offering a Rookie Boot Camp designed to get participants in shape while they lose weight.

Rookie Boot Camp will meet 6:30-7:30 p.m. each Monday and Thursday for nine weeks beginning June 25. The class will start with a fitness test, a one-mile walk/run, a one-minute push-up test and a one-minute sit-up/crunch test. The same tests will be repeated on the final day of class.

To participate, individuals must be able to complete a mile in less than 13 minutes. The cost is $30 for members and $60 for non-members. To sign up or for more information, call (859) 936-9355 or stop by the member services desk.

KY COPS ride set for Saturday

The Blue Knights of Kentucky Chapter XI will host the Fourth Annual KY COPS ride on Saturday in Lexington. The event is a police-escorted motorcycle ride. The cost is $15 per bike and rider, $10 per quest. Registration will be 10 a.m. until noon at Gall's Inc., 2680 Palumbo Drive, and will include an event pin, meal and entrance into the Kentucky State Police Professional Association history museum.

The ride will be about 40 miles, traveling from Lexington to Frankfort and then to the Kentucky State Police Professional Association building in Frankfort.

The ride benefits programs by the Kentucky Chapter of the Concerns of Police Survivors as both a fundraiser and a public relations tool.

Gall's Inc. sponsors the event. There will be door prizes and a 50-50 drawing.
