Vicki A. Darnell has been named executive vice president of Ephraim McDowell Health and chief operating officer of Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. She is expected to assume her duties in mid- to late August.
As chief operating officer for the hospital, Darnell will be responsible for clinical and support services as well as nursing services. As executive vice president for Ephraim McDowell Health, she will be responsible for organizational quality and the non-hospital services of the family medical centers, A Children's Place, McDowell Wellness Center and McDowell Place of Danville.
Darnell comes to McDowell from Dothan, Ala., where she now serves as vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Darnell received her bachelor's degree from Shorter College in Berry, Ga., her bachelor's in nursing degree from Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss., and her Master of Science degree in nursing in health systems administration from Queens College, Charlotte, N.C.
