Sedrick Thomas Jr.

July 15, 1940 - June 15, 2007

Sedrick Thomas Jr. of Nicholasville was born to the late Margaret Smith Thomas and Sedrick Thomas Sr. on July 15, 1940, and died Friday, June 15.

He was the husband of Joan M. Thomas, and the father of Belinda M. Meads, Sheila C. Thompson and her husband, Lawrence, and one stepson and his wife, Tyrone Thomas Jr. and Angie.

He leaves three grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and three step granddaughters; two brothers and their wives, Frank and Ruby and the Rev. Thomas D. and Jackie Thomas; three sisters, Carol Floyd, Mary Robinson and her husband, Floyd, and Wanda Segar; two aunts, Gloria Edwards and Grace Ackers; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and one special friend, Delores Burton.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Thomas.

Visitation was held Thursday, June 21, from 6 to 8 p.m.. and the funeral service took place Friday, June 22, at 1 p.m. at Blackbridge Baptist Church in Nicholasville.

Arrangements were made by Smith & Smith Funeral Home.

Billy Jackson

Sept. 27, 1934 - June 23, 2007

Billy Charles Jackson, 72, of Lexington, husband of Sue Bowman Jackson, died Saturday, June 23.

He was born Sept. 27, 1934, in Pebworth, Ky., to the late Carlo and Nettie Jackson. He was a U.S. Marine veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. He was also a master plumber, a HVAC/boiler inspector, and a journeyman electrician by trade. Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed quiet time with his family.

Along with his wife of 38 years, he is survived by two sons, Billy Dale Jackson of Indianapolis, Ind., and Steve Brockman and his wife, Beth, of Lexington; one daughter and her husband, Lori and Mark Decker of Philmont, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Billy and Samantha Jackson, Josh, Ashley, Lauren, and Abby Brockman, Nick and Riley Decker; and one great-grandson, Brayden Jackson. Also surviving are two sisters, Dixie Miller and Loretta Ramey and her husband, Clyde, both of Lexington; sisters-in-law, Ruby Jackson of Pebworth, Ky., and Yvonne Jackson of Nicholasville; and many nephews and nieces, and his little buddy, Jake.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Irvine, Earl Glen, and James Donald Jackson; and two sisters, Maxine Tirey and Lois Frost.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 26, at 2 p.m., at the Booneville Funeral Home, with Pastor Brenda Davis officiating.

Visitation was Monday evening, at the funeral home, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Burial was at the Combs Cemetery in Pebworth with the Booneville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mattie Graham

Nov. 30, 1910 - June 20, 2007

Mattie Lee Preston Graham, 96, widow of Ben Taylor Graham Sr., died Wednesday, June 20.

She was born Nov. 30, 1910, in Garrard County, to the late Tolly and Annie Graham Preston. She was a homemaker and member of Nicholasville United Methodist Church.

Survivors are two daughters, Dorothy Lowery Woods and Annie Murphy Cotton; one son, Ben T. Graham Jr., all of Nicholasville; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and other family members.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Wilburn Graham.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Nicholasville United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Snyder officiating and burial following at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Visitation was 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Betts & West Funeral Home, and Monday from noon until time of service at the church.

Family members served as bearers.

Osmand Wyman

Dec. 21, 1936 - June 20, 2007

Oswald Lee Wyman, 70, husband of Molly Wyman of Versailles, died June 20.

He was a member of Assembly of God and was a bus driver for LexTran for 32 years.

Additional survivors include two sons and their wives, Jimmy and Sharon Wyman and Tommy and Tara Wyman; three daughters and their husbands, Vernie and Earl Clark, Denise Marie Wyman and Brenda Sue and Donald Harrison; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six step children; 14 step grandchildren; a step great-grandchild; and a sister, Patsy Ann Brown.

Services were held at noon Saturday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Mickey Stinnett officiating. Visitation was from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Burial was at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens.

Bearers were grandsons, David Harrison, James Wyman, Derek Harrison, Glenn Harrison, Brandon Clark, Timmy Harrison and Albert Rogers.

Troy Hogue

Feb. 9, 1963 - June 23, 2007

Troy Keith Hogue, 44, of Nicholasville, formerly of Danville, died Saturday.

Born Feb. 9, 1963, in Boyle County, he was the son of the late John Woodrow and Barbara Ann Daily Hogue. He was a 1981 graduate of Boyle County High School, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he was a Navy Seal, a salesman at Sutherland Chevrolet of Nicholasville and a member of First Baptist Church.
