Danville-Boyle Humane Society Pet of the Week for July 18

July 18, 2007

Puppies and kittens are in plentiful supply at the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society. These two are a sampling of the many beautiful, sweet pups and kittens available. The kitten is Homer, and of course he has a brother named Bart.

The pup, Annabel, has several sisters and a brother. They are basset hound mixes and are about as cute as you can get! Our Summer "Fur" Sale is still in progress. Adopt two kittens for the price of one ($75) or an adult cat for only $25.

There are a wide variety of kittens to choose from, including buff, black, black and white, gray and white, and orange. Adult cats include Vanna, a long-haired beauty; Allie, a short-haired black and white declawed cat with deep green eyes; Paulie, a sweet white boy who has been neutered; and Bok Choi, also a neutered male.

Adult dogs include Artie, a 2-year-old black Lab mix; Lyndon, a young adult Australian shepherd; and Minnie and Maggie, two sweet beagle mixes. Puppy mixes include basset hound, Lab, Bernese mountain dog-hound, and Jack Russell. The adoption fee of $75 includes spay-neuter surgery, first vaccinations (including rabies), de-worming, feline leukemia test for cats, and Boyle County dog tag for dogs. Shelter hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Our next free obedience class will be 1 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Boyle County Fairgrounds. And remember, unneutered pets contribute to the pet overpopulation problem. Please spay or neuter! Watch for the opening of our low-cost spay/neuter clinic.
